Hannover 96 fined €20,000 For Racist Abuse




The german club have been slammed with a fine for racial slur by their fans towards Mainz 05 Leon Balogun and Anthony Ujah on Jabuary 13 2018.

After their match which ended 3-2 in favour of  Hannover 96, Leon Balogun wrote on his twitter page to express his disappointment at the racist behavior towards him and his fellow team mates.

After series of investigation by the German football Association, it was confirmed that a group of seven individuals carried out the bigotry rant at the stadium.

In a statement released by the German FA website reads-:
“During the Budisliga match against: (1) FSV Mainz 05 on January-13-2018 in Hannover, a group of seven to twelve people had the two FSV players Leon Balogun and Anthony Uja, who were warming up behind the goal line, recurring over long stretches  of the second half racially insulted”
