Skysports And BT Sports Secure £4.5 Billions Premier League Tv Rights For 2019-2022


The two giant sports channels Skysports and BT sports have both paid a combined £4.5billion for the next 2019-2022 season of Premier League Tv rights.

The executive chairman of the English Premier League “Richard Scudamore” stated that; To have achieved this investment with two packages remaining to sell is testament to the excellent football competition delivered by the clubs.”

This new deal designate that Skysport win four out of the total package of seven available, which equates to 128 games per season. While BT sports won one, which simplifies it will be able to televise 32 games per season. It will also allow Sky sports to have a first pick for every weekend match, while also showing for the very first time the 19:45pm Saturday evening matches (UK Time). BT sports will be privileged to broadcast the Saturday lunchtime matches.

Chief executive of BT Sport was quoted as saying: “The Premier League is undoubtedly the most competitive and exciting league in the world, so we are happy that our customers will continue to enjoy all Saturday games on BT sports.” A confirmed repoprt from BT sport indicates that they will be paying £295million  per season as part of the new deal, which compare to £9.22million per Premier League match.

While Sky sports outlay will be £3.579 billion, which equates to £9.3million per game.
