Spanish Side Sevila Lost At Home, As Bayern Munchen Wins 1-2 Away Victory

Bundisliga power house Bayern Munchen came from behind to defeats Sevila 2-1 on Tuesday night of the first leg tie of champions league quarter finals. Many thanks to an own goal by Jesus Navas and second half decesive goal from Thiago Alcantara.

From all indications, Bayern Munchen only needs a draw in their second leg tie next week 10th April 2018, to reach the semi-finals for the fifth time in six seasons.

“Psychologically, it was very important to equalize quickly, even if it took a bit of luck. But if we must win the Champions League, we need to improve…. We lost the ball too often and lacked structure in the midfield which allowed Sevila to create chances. Although we improved in the second half and in the end we deserved the win.” Bayern Munchen Coach Jupp Heynckes.

Bayern Munchen, a five time European champion, has made it to the last eight nine times in 10 seasons.

Sevila has never made it to the champions League Semifinals, but they are playing in the last eight for the first time in 60years after defeating highly rated Manchester United in the knock out stage.

Speaking immediately after the match, Sevila coach Vincenzo Montella said:- “We were unlucky, we played better against a very strong Bayern Munchen. We deserve more.”
