As Roma Defeats Shaktar Donetsk “1-0” To Qualify For Quarter Final

As Roma has reached the champions league quarter finals for the first time since 2008 after a defining victory over shakter Donesk.

The Italian side lost their first leg tie 2-1, however qualified with an away goal rule. Thanks to Edin Dzenko’s strike that poked inbetween shaktar goal keeper legs, that gave Roma the only goal ensuring they reach the knocked out stage.

“The standing ovation was not meant for me alone but for everyone. We deserve to be in the quarter finals. We managed to do something Roma hadn’t done in 10years, so going forward to play against the best make us all very proud.” Edin Dzenko

“Roma made the most of a single moment. But apart from the goal, they didn’t have a chance, we had possession. If we had finished off the chances we had in the first leg, the match would already have been over.” Paulo Fonseca, Shaktar Donesk Manager.
