Clubs participating in the Eredivisie division have voted their interest for the introduction of ‘V.A.R’ by the league organizers from next season.
The KNVB(Eredivisie) have affirmed that they will bear the cost of the V.A.R for the first two years with central video centre to be set up in Ziest. However from the third year, all clubs will donates €55,000 each per season.
“The game is getting more competitive. Many countries have already started the use of V.A.R and we would love to assist our refrees where necessary. That is the much reason we are introducing this in imitation of other countries a well”. KNVB director Eric Gudde
So far in Netherlands, the Video Assistant Refree(VAR) has only been used in cup competitions, however from next league season, all games will feature V.A.R
